ISTMA EUROPE ON MANUFUTURE INITIATIVE

The High Level Committee of European MANUFUTURE Initiative, met on 23 and 24 of July in Porto, Portugal, with the patronage and presence of the President of the European Commission, Mr. Jose Manuel Durao Barroso.

The present President of ISTMA Europe, Joaquim Menezes, also board member of the Portuguese Forum of this European Initiative, participated in this meeting together with other industrial invited participants and members of ISTMA Europe - Javier Antonana from Spain, past President of ISTMA Europe, and the next appointed President, Fausto Romagnani from Italy.

With the aim to discuss the future developments of the European manufacturing industry, and gather opinions and visions from industrial community and policy makers regarding strategic actions on innovation, research and development. The reunion was a tremendous opportunity to show the relevance of the Tooling, Mould and Die sector for the sustainability and development of the European Industry, and an important chance to present it before some important opinion leaders and European policy makers.

It was also a unique opportunity to establish contacts and expand ISTMA Europe networking activities towards the public exposure of our sector and setting-up the planned organization of a “Mould and Special Tooling Forum” to be held next year.
